Default 97 Ram 3500 lighting issue

Hiya's,

Just got a 97 Ram 3500 dually and was checking it over for inspection. Noticed the l/s turn signal didn't work with the head/parks lights on, also noticed the brake lights were on when the head/parking lights were on. Long story short, I found that removing the trailer relay from the pdc under the hood solved both lighting problems. I don't have a schematic for this truck so hopefully someone has seen this before and can let me know what's up. Many thanks!

Check for shorted wires at the trailer connector, and where they hit the rear harness.

There is an 01 service manual available for download in the FAQ section here, should be pretty close as far as your wiring issues are concerned.

Welcome to DF.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply HeyYou. Traced the harness and found the wires at the 7 pole end connector looked funny. Pulled out and dissasembled the connector and found half the wires not connected to pins so I guess they were all touching inside. Now I just need to find a schematic that show what wires go to what pins. O what fun!

Finally have it all working and back together. The wires that were still connected were wrong, so thanks to the link you posted, it's all better now. Glad I found thei forum! Again, thanks.
