What's the point of an O2 sensor, if it isn't correcting mixture!

Id take a poll of members avg mpg...
10 to 12 would probably be th norm..
Myself...14.4 avg after sct and exhaust. Prior.12.2
This is what I am afraid of. My first dodge so I don't know at what point I say it is as good as it ever was.
Hard to believe an o2 reading jumps around all the way from .1 to .9. Makes it hard to use for anything.

The actual signal is a pulsating DC that moves in amplitude and duration proportionally with the exhaust pulses passing by. The PCM makes good use of it.
I'm getting a pretty consistent 12.5MPG city, not babying it as much as I ought to with fuel prices being so high as they are now.
This is my 5th dodge truck, had 2 5.2's, one 4.7, a 3.9, and this 5.9... The 5.9 gets the best mileage out of all of them.. I maintain my vehicles METICULOUSLY and all of the above said exept the 5.9 averaged 12-13 roughly. All of them varied on miles, my 3.9 only had 60k on it it(98 model), and it got the worst out of all them. Dodge Rams aren't fuel efficient lol, i keep buying them because of preference. Honestly i really dont see getting any better than 18 avg outta one. If anyone on here does, PLEASE TELL ME HOW lol..
