Default 17in Off-Road Package Wheels?

I picked up a set of the 2nd Gen 17in 5spoke Off-Road wheels today for really cheap. I'm getting ready to send them off to the powder coater to be blasted and coated this week. I currently run the basic 16in 5spoke wheels the truck came with. What is the everyone running for tire size on the factory 17in wheels? I want to run a meaty all-terrain tire on them. I have the Firestone Destination A/T's right now and they have been great. Just need to decide on tire size now for the new 17's.

Truck is a 2001 1500 4x4 Std Cab, Short Bed.

33" or the more common 285 70 17 look pretty good on off road wheels.
At stock height you won't scrub anything with 285 70 17 tires on off road rims.
If you go to a 33" tire then the tires will probably rub the back of the front fenders when you have the wheels turned and hit a bump. Mine did.

If anyone wants a set badly enough, they are available at rock auto for $130 each.

Do you have any lift? If you are between stock and 3" of lift, I'm with Sheriff.... 285's.

The truck is still stock as far as ride height. I am probably going to leave the suspension at stock height or maybe later do a leveling kit. I want to keep the truck as reliable and possible for daily driving and don't do any real hardcore off-roading so no need for any more of a lift.

I dropped off the wheels today to have the old tires taken off and trashed. The old tires were 285/70/17. Thanks for all the tips, i'm probably going to go with the same size. Now just gotta shop around for a good deal.

We have BFG MT 35/12.5/17's on one truck (01 Offroad) with 2" leveling kit and 315/70/17 BFG AT on the (01 Sport 4X4) with 3" leveling kit. No rub on either.

The first truck sits 3.5" higher than a stock 4x4 and the second is 3" higher, that's why they don't rub. The guy in the first post is at stock height so those tires would rub on his truck.

I'm definitley going to go witht the suggested 285/70/17 just for ease of use and because i don't plan on doing a lift any time soon. Seems like the average price for most A/T tires is right around $200 per tire or so. I get the wheels back from the powder coater on friday. I ended up going with a dark silver metalic powder coat with clearcoat. Should look pretty good when done.
