Do me a favor, go remove the air cleaner tube and see if you have a port on the tube under it.

ok the manual says the high pressure port is located on the "liquid line" which is the line in the second link above. Make sense to this point? now that all aluminum line called the liquid line in the above link that the manual says the high pressure port is located on, is the port that the gauge fits on. Do you see where im getting confused??

The 97 setup is different, but yes liquid line. The one by the fender. The only one the fitting will screw into anyway.

yes the liquid line what, is the high side or low side??its a snap on fitting and if the liquid line is the low pressure line then the guy i bought it from over charged it because that line was at 130-140 psi and its only supposed to be at around 30-40

yes sir and under the ac and heating chapter the second page says this:
OPERATION - REFRIGERANT SYSTEM SERVICE
PORT
The high pressure service port is located on the liquid
line between the condenser and the evaporator,
near the front of the engine compartment. The low
pressure service port is located on the suction line,
near the accumulator outlet.

which made sense beause my "liquid line" the pressure was at 135 or so which would be correct if the "liquid line" was the high pressure port.

Part of our mis communication here is because the later models have the service ports in completely different spots. What I don't understand is how you are able to connect that can to the high side port.

At any rate, those directions are right, except for the "near the accumulator outlet" part in your case(97 and earlier). The line going to or coming out I should say from the accumulator is the low pressure (suction line). The low pressure switch is located on the accumulator also.

thats why ive been getting confused all along because thats what ive been saying, but the port on the lines coming out of the accumulator is to big but the liquid line running next to the fender has a port and the gauge fit on it and read 135psi

That port by the fender is the low pressure line on a 97 RAM.(the port in the line on top of the compressor is the high side liquid line) If you have that much pressure in the line by the fender, some thing is wrong. The orifice tube may be clogged.
