3 inch duals on v10
I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 with a 8.0 liter v10 magnum. would 3 inch true dual exhaust all the way with magnaflow high flow catalytic converters work. im looking for better flow and a little more power and mpg. i am also looking for a little deeper rumble. i need some comments and feedback
IMHO......I think 2 1/2 true duals are plenty enough. If you go too big you will lose all back pressure.
If you look at each side of the motor you only have 5 cylinders, 2 1/2" exhaust should be large enough to handle that no problem as long as you don't combine the exhaust. I would just go 2 1/2" Magnaflow all the way back for each side. Also you could install some headers for a tone change.

+1. 2.5" duals is a bit to much for near stock Magnum V8s, so it should be about right for the larger V10. 3" won't hurt the motor, but it definitely will have you lose some bottom end. It'd take a lot of upgrades to make that up, probably past the "bolt ons."
I just finished taking off the cats and putting on a 3" dual in and out on the truck. I have the 2-3" tails going out in the stock location. I does have that deeper sound and alot better flow. I could care less about loosing bottom end. It is just my play toy so I dont tow.
