Default 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Issue

Morning,

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport Ext cab 4x4 5.9L. Purchased July 2010, had new tires on it Ferice MT 285x75x16's. Normal size for this model is 245x75x16. Anyway, since july I have been through 2 trans. Good thing I purchased the extended warranty.

Now when I slow now to stop you can here it and there is vibration, no brake plusing, no brake squeak, no bounce, nothing in the steering etc. Not sure if rotors are wrapped or universals or ????

Any ideas on this one.

Help is appriecated.

Lew

sounds like rotors to me, but i could be wrong, check your wheel bearings also i had the same prob and it ended up being both my wheel bearings, and if your going to replace the bearings, you might as well take the extra time and do your u joints to.

have a look at the trans cooler lines up by the radiator, on the frame. Right before the lower line hits the radiator, there is a check valve, is it still there? If so, get rid of it.

Could you clarify your problem a bit more?

Hard to explain, worked on a ton of classic cars, and have owned trucks all my life. unless your ridding in it, no grinding, or that I can here except those sh@t tires wine. Doesnt feel like a downshifting problem.
Also, when I hit a high gear (auto matic trans) to climb a good size hill going to work. the trans will hit passing gear and the rpm gauge will red line at 5k unless I bad off. I have had a lot of dodges before, and this one I dont think was taken care of. So it does have some issues.

Might wanna have a look at the TV cable, and see if it is adjusted correctly.

Im sure your truck didnt have 245 tires on it. They had 265 and 275 tires. Do you have a trans cooler? If not GET ONE. If you do have one (old one) you should have replaced it. You can buy them on ebay pretty cheap. Alot of places just replace the trans and never flush the lines.....and even if they do they never get out all the crap. New lines and a new trans cooler.

Just my 2 cents seeing I have a 2001 Dodge Ram sport 4X4 quad cab with a 5.9......199, 751 miles on it.

Factory tire options included 225s, 245s, 265s, and for the 17s (Off Road Edition only), 275s.

got my build sheet and mine came with 265/75/16 tires from factory

and when the trans was rebuilt...maybe dumb question but...did they replace the TC as well? they have a tendency of cracking, and the check valve will make the tranny overheat if its blocking the fluid from the cooler, and you cant go by our dummy lights...when our trans temp light comes on, its usually to late....
