keyless entry programming
so i have done some research on this and they say that you ground out the dark green wire which they call the reprogramming wire and then press the unlock and lock button on the clicker but i have yet to be able to find this wire, they say it is on the left side of the steering collum taped to the back of the harness and it also says that it has a terminal on the end of it, so with that all being said anyone know what i am talking about?

My sole key FOB quit working a month or two ago, and I attempted to find the same wire. Could not find it, no idea what the guy was talking about.
The wife's Durango took over $100 to program a key for, so I was skeptical about taking it to the dealer. However, they programmed a used FOB for the truck (got it off eBay) for less than $50. IIRC, it was around $35 before tax.

Off topic really quick... hey Skab... you do realize you don't have a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 SLT Lariat, right? Lariat is a Ford thing. Dodge is Laramie.
One important note... for 1999-2001, maybe even 1998, don't pay the dealership to program more than one. Once you have one remote programmed, you can program others yourself.

How can I tell what fccid# I need? I called the dealer and they said they couldn't look it up but gave me a part number.
I found this article. Will it work for our trucks?

You can get a used remote off of eBay, just get the part # from the dealership.
If they want over $50 to program it, go to another dealership, that one is taking you for a ride.
IIRC, I bought a pair of used (but good shape, working) remotes and got one of them programmed for under $100 grand total, tax and shipping included.

Think about it, 90% of the information on here can majorly screw up your truck if you do it wrong - but we all do it anyhow.
If you figure out which wire it is OP, please let us know.
