possible clogged cat
Unscrewing the front o2 is a good way to test, but to offer you an alternative method:
Redneck cat check: Run the truck to operating temp. Get up under it with it still running, and get ready to burn your hand (only if not careful). Tap the exhaust before the cat with you hand (should be pretty hot), then tap it post-cat (should be 50* or so cooler). If the post cat "reading" is a lot colder (more than 100*) the cat is clogged.
Alternately, if you have a laser thermometer, you can take the readings with that. This would be more accurate, but it takes all the fun out of the procedure.

if clogged yes it wqill sound like a jet engine when gettin on it. and my 2 cents cuz i just did it, i thinnk it was a little easier guttin it when it was hot, but i had already knocked most of it loose, i was blowing it out, and then chippin the sides away, but its up to you. best way i found was, try to get one hold all the way thru the middle and then start gettin a hole on each side, and then start tappin it in some, and prying it the oppisite direction to break it loose.
I gutted mine today, and it was a pain in the ***. I think I got the majority of it out. I never thought that stuff in there would be as hard as it was.
I had a long piece of 5/8" threaded rod and a hammer, and I was wondering if I would ever break through.
