Default Noise only while truck is in D

I recently discovered that I have some sort of squeaking coming from around the lower back side of the engine when the truck is in drive. At first I thought it could be suspension related. Out of curosity I put it in neutral when I heard it, the sound immediately stopped. Also it does not do it in reverse either, only when the truck is in gear going forward. Has anyone else had this or have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

I have a similar noise, but I think its coming from the shift cable inside the column/dash. I only hear it in drive or reverse depending upon actual shifter location. If I bump it close to Neutral, the sound goes away. Taking the covers off the column and the lower dash, I can't see or get to the cable to lube it. In fact, I'm not even sure if its a cable or a direct mechanical linkage. Whatever it is, the sound I'm hearing is definitely related to the shifter inside the column. Hope this helps.

I don't think it would be the flex plate but I can't rule that out I guess. The shift linkage/cable sounds possible. Have you fixed yours yet dirt? Or has anyone else had this issue?

Put someone you trust in the drivers seat. (and will receive no monetary gain should they 'accidentally' run you over.....) Have them put it in gear while you crawl around underneath trying to isolate where the noise is coming from.

I haven't done anything since I bought the truck a year ago. I just make sure that the shifter is in the "sweet spot" so it doesn't make noise.
