Not in the later model years there aren't. Not sure on 1998 though.

 

All I can tell you is my 96 had them on the rear speakers, I was surprized to see them when I pulled the panel off

 

There were no amps on my rear door speakers of my 2000

 

Correct, the rears do not have amps. The rear speakers get power from the fronts. Because when the front speaker is disconnected, the rear speakers do not work.

 

I got a question for you newer trucks, were your rear speakers 2-way speakers and what size are they, I'm wondering if they dropped the rear amps when they added the doors

 

my 98 has the extended cab and it has 5 1/4s in the rear doors

 

2000 rams can use these speaker sizes.

Front
5-1/4(only with mounting bracket)
6-1/2(only with mounting bracket)
6x9

Rear
5-1/4
6-1/2(re-drill of mounting holes are needed)
6-3/4(re-drill of mounting holes are needed)

These also are the same for 98-2001.

 

my 98 has 5 1/4s in the rear and the front are 6 by 9s
