On Hughes website it now says you don't need them. So I know they stretch some when you torque them done so what if I just ground a thread or 2 off.

 

honestly i used the same manifold bolts, only ones different were the ones for the plenum plate. no probs at all.

 

The intake manifold bolts are Torque To Yield (TTY), meaning they can only be torqued once, and thus only used once. Hughes is wrong.

Half *** makes you a dumb ***. Dont be a stupid hack and replace them. You get them at the dealer:
6035967AA Intake Manifold bolts - $17.28 (for a package of 16)

You could get grade 8s, then swap them out on Monday morning.

 

Dude- I re-used the bolts because the order was shorted and I didn't inventory it before I started. It almost cost me hugely.

I've heard you can use the stainless w/o issues. The tty is used because of the really low torque on them, and needing them to NOT loosen. IF you use stainless grade 8's, use a thread lock of some sort, and don't be shy with it.

 

So a set of stainless 5/16 bolts and alot of the red thread locker would work?

 

Stainless is not the same material as metal (stretch is different) so i wouldn't use them.
