Default Door locks gone crazy

The door locks on my 2000 Ram V8 Sport model have started to have a mind of there own. They will lock and unlock over and over really fast sometimes, while driving, or when trying to lock/unlock. It is very frustrating when I have to press the unlock on my remote 30 times in succession while having my hand on the handle trying to open the door before it locks itself again. Or fighting with it to stay locked, many times now I have come back from a store etc to find it unlocked after I had tried locking it so many times.

This has been happening for months now, I replaced the driver side window/lock control switch (it had died already) hoping it would fix it but there has been no change. Any ideas why my door locks have gone crazy? Any and all help is appreciated.

Try swapping the relay with another one.

That would either be a short in the switch, a relay that is sticking, or a poltergiest.

The former two are relatively easy to check for, the latter requires lots of chanting, sage, and the death of your firstborn.

I think the most likely option is the relay (unless you live on an indian burial ground). Swap it out with one of the same type and see what happens.

If that doesnt do the trick, I'll need some more info. You say you replaced the switch... did you do both of them? Are both (driver and passenger) switches equally affected by this problem?

well another thing if it is only one door might be something to do with actuator or a shorted wire... which i would be careful until you find out for sure you dont want to see you truck go up in flames

Very doubtful it is a shorted wire or a bad relay. The wires are a constant ground with a positive interrupt that switches polarity my bet would be something is acting up in the computer system from the key-less entry to one of the sensor for auto lock and may be something to do with the security system. Have you tried unhooking the battery that may get stuff to reset. Seen a few Grand Ams pull the same stunt.

also very true something to look into.... when i worked at a ford dealer we would have to disconnect batteries for like 30sec to get the focuses to start if they sat for awhile
