Default Fuel tank strap

After putting a half tank of gas in my 1999 ram 1500 4x4 5.9 club cab short bed one of my fuel tank straps broke. The strap is a special order item and won't be in for a couple of days. I temporarly used a ratchet strap to keep it up there. The strap is clear of the drive shaft, exhaust, brake lines, ect. I left the old metal strap on it so the presure on it is about the same. Is the truck safe to drive for a few days with the ratchet strap. I don't want to lose my half tank of gas or damage my truck

The FedEx guy at work has had a ratchet strap holding his tank on for almost a year now, and he spends 12 hours a day on the road.

What the tank or the gas in it? I'd hate to let 26 gallons of gas just get splashed on the road!
