Default timing

ok so i had my truck (97 2500 5.9 gas) in the smog class at school today they did a check for me and told me a few things to do. first i need a new gas cap and i need to re route my plug wires(about to do that now) and im missing a o2 sensor. they also said my timing seemed to be off they pulled codes:
po300
po301
po303
po304
po306
po138
they said if not for missing the rear o2 gas cap and check engine light i would have passed even with the missfire.
so my question is will the tsb rerouting the wires fix the miss fire? or does it sound like im having a different problem? and is it possible to adjust the timing with the distributer? i know my old jeep had a distributer but was computer controlled timing and i dont know if my ram is that way too.
thank you in advance for any help you all can give me.

The timing is computer controlled, turning the dizzy only changes the fuel sync.

How old is your distributor cap? Multiple random misfires kinda point to an ignition system problem. When was the last time you had a tuneup?

i have had the truck for about two months i have done the plenum, plugs, wires(not routed properly),cap and rotor, new intake and valve cover gaskets, pcv, iac, new cat muffler and pipe all the way out.

like isaid i know i need a new after cat o2 and to fix the wires. i have been wondering if the ckp was the culpret of the miss fire. and as for the timing i seem to idle at around 6-700 put into drive probably goes to 8-9 and reverse sounds like its gonna die. when im driving and even get on it real hard there seems to be no miss and it runs like a champ. it has never died on me but everyonce and a while acts like its going to when i pull up to a stop.

Yank the throttle body, pull out the IAC valve on the back side, clean the pintle on the valve, and thoroughly clean the TB. Gasket is like two bucks....

What plugs did you install? And did you gap them?

sorry forgot to add when i did the plenum and everything else i also cleaned the tb when the iac was installed and new gasket. pretty much all the work was done at the same time since there was tons of room to do it cause it was all apart.

as for the plugs i replaced them all and i did gap them all myself i cant remember the gap off the top of my head but i made sure i found the spec before i did them. made that mistake once before never again lol

Funny, I just ahd a thread about that IAC and spark plugs and such. Finally invested the whole 1.50 today for the plug gap tool, $2 for throttle body gasket, and 2 cans of B-12 carb and choke cleaner (seen it in action, works well compared to others.) already had the plugs and wires. interesting though. One store only had 4 plugs, store next door had the other 4 i needed. I gapped 'em tonight. The 4 i got from 1 store were all right at .040 From the other store, 2 were at .035, .036 and 2 were .040 Fixed that, but got me wondering what woulda happened with the difference?

And also, asked about an 02 sensor.....55-65$ holy crap...that'll have to wait

Oh, and I think i remember reading something about a bulletin or something coming out saying the wires were supposed to be rerouted from even the way the factory did em...something with 1 of the wires on the pass. side

If you have any spark plug wires laying over one another it might cause misfire due to the fact they have a magnetic force through out them causeing the two wires to cross will screw that up.
