Seafoam... Now a BELIEVER!
I'd been having startup issues in my truck since I bought it. Usually it would take 3 seconds or so to turn over.
Yesterday I hosed off my intake manifold really good with Seafoam's Deepcreep and cleaned off as much muck as I could see...
VOILA! All of a sudden the truck starts instantly!
I'm sure many of you all have tried this stuff, I just wanted to pen a positive testimonial. I'm also using seafoam on my vacuum lines as well as running a can through the gas. I'll repost and let you all know my results.

Great Stuff!!!
This is one of those products that have withstood the test of time. I think it was developed during the depression. My grandfather who was a life-long mechanic by trade, swore by this stuff and Marvel Mystery Oil.
I use it in everything I have that burns gas, the key is just not to overdo it.
I have weed whackers and some other lawn equipment that are over 20 years old that still run like new that have gotten a 1 oz. per gallon of gas dose of this stuff all of their lives. GREAT fuel stabilizer in those "once in a while" used engines like generators and such.

i was thinking about using it in my 81 but that was before the 3 very gassy oil changes and it driving no where. after all the oil changes i think the inside of my engine has got to almost be clean enough to eat off of. might have to try it in my 91.

wait, you poured it into the brake booster? THat is not good. Or do you mean you used the brake booster vac line that goes into the manifold. Pouring it in the brake booster will not do anything but make your brakes fail.

have you guys used the spray, i used the spray today and i did not get any smoke at all. When i went with there let shut it off and let it sit for 5 mins then drive agressive, and when i was driving it like i stole it the first half a block it smoked a little but that was it but i mean it wasnt significant at all
Thanks for all of the replies! I am ABSOLUTELY NOT a mech-head, so it is great to learn from you all.
I poured 1/3 can into the vacuum line from the brake booster INTO the manifold. I also used the Seafoam Deep Creep spray to hose off the air intake (??), about 3-5 seconds per side. Then wipe off.
More to the story... I've always driven pickups. I wanted a big truck. Found this one for a fair price. The research I did basically specified that the 5.9L should run about 16-18 mpg highway. EPIC FAIL. No chance. My first tank got 11.
So far the only work I have been able to do is replace the plugs with some sort of $1.50 crapper and to Seafoam everything. I just filled up again and added 2 mpg with this work.
I am going to keep track of my mileage and repost it after I complete the various bits of tune-ups. My plan is to do a complete tune-up using MSD wiring and coil, E3 plugs, either a Hughes plenum kit or the complete manifold kit, and a K&N air intake. Right now, everything on the truck is factory specified.
My two trucks (94 and 97, both 1500's) are interesting cases... I found both of them on farms with VERY LITTE MILEAGE!!! The 94 only has 35000!!! 80K on the 97. This is great, but it only means that they both have been sitting around most of the time. And as we all know... when you sit around and do nothing, you get fat!
I could have bought a new truck, but between these two I should be able to have a lot of fun.
I will keep everyone posted as I complete various phases just to see what happens!!!
