jerking while at hiway speeds, transmission?
I have a 2000 ram 1500 4x4 with a 6" lift automatic. Just the other day out of the blue I was driving and got on the hiway. when i get up above 50mps my truck jerks. Dont know exactly how to describe it but It almost feels like a backfire or my tranny is droping in and out of gear. It will be fine then do it, maby a few seconds between. There is no drop in rpm when it happens so I"m guessing its my tranny and not my engine. Any ideas? I'm thinking either torque converter is going out, or something in the actual transmission. It doesn't happen at lower speeds. and still has plenty of power and accelleration.
thanks, brett g.

Still have the stock tune on your truck? If so, find a nice flat, straight stretch of road, with a speed limit of at least 45. Drive at a steady speed, as slow as you can, that will get your truck into O/D, and tcc lockup. If it feels like the truck is going to shake itself apart, you have a misfiring cylinder. (or, maybe more than one.)

Would a tune up fix that?
