I'm doing a SAS on my Dakota right now. From axle is Dana 44 from a 89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Exact same width as the Dakota. With full size axles on the Dakotas it will stick out 2in out on the sides.
The best thing your going to want to look for axles is a driver side diff. 2nd Gen Rams have them but use coils so you will have to cut it all off to use it. Some 70's Fords came with driver side drop.
My swap link is in my signature with TONS of pics.

I know this is an old thread but it pops up everytime i search , i am building a 99 ext cab Dakota 5.9 4x4 . I am going to use Ram 2500 D60 axles with Ford Knuckles (for the lock outs ) . Tone rings in the rear are the same so my speedo and ABS will work . I know the axle is a CAD axle but i am not worried about that .. I just want the IFS gone and ford axles are Pricey and in short supply around here . Dodge axles are everywhere .. Plus they are still D60's .
