Often those mods require the removal of emissions equipment which is illegal and therefore not an acceptable option for the general public. If the vehicle is properly designed from the factory there is very little that can be done to improve it.

There are plenty of power modifications that will have an effect and plenty of other mods that have visual and other performance attributes, such as lifts, locker, body kits, stereos ect.

The only way to make it work for you is doing the work yourself.

This is an interesting link, I know it is a Ford site, but the vehicle the two students used for testing was a 1997 Dodge Ram, 5.2l auto.

By the way, if your looking for fuel savings, DO NOT, buy a hard fiberglass cover, or camper shell. Yes, it may help the air flow over the bed, but the weight of the hard cover/camper shell will negate any fuel savings.

That still doesn't matter who pays for there show. They stated adding any tonnou cover will not increase mpg. Not a brand, but any. Same as when they did the spark plugs. No brands were shown. But since you think that TV isn't a good means to find things out, try to do some google searches. You will see that E3's are not all they are crack up to be. You will also find out that tonneau covers don't help out in a noticeable way.

I wouldn't list a K&N filter, Optima battery, summit cap/rotor/wires, or spark plugs in my sig. That is pretty Noobish to do. I also would not list a coil as a mod unless I had an ignition box with it.

noobs. If you are bragging about the cash you have, why not just get Pulstar plugs and Magnecor wires? 90 bucks for the plugs and 160 for the wires. Those are the best.

Wow this thread really went down hill...

As a guy with a hard cover I can tell you that I am not getting any better MPG with it, I just like the look of it.

Popular mechanics also did an article stating that after running various test, tannoue cover doesn't help MPG's...the same with dropping your tail gate. As far as E3's are concerned,The first year I had them, I loved them. The second year, my rig started to idle a little rough. The third year, my rig was misfiring like crazy. It was as if it was having a seizer. I only put about 30-35k miles on them and there suppose to be a 100k mile plug. Switched them out to some $2 NGK's and it's idling smoother then ever.

my MSD box and coil did not have a noticeable difference....except at WOT. the MSD boxes are not really worth it. MSD boxes that you get for street cars are NOWHERE NEAR the ones used for full out race cars.

Basically MSD sold out a while back and made watered down boxes for the masses. I have one, but I had it from when I had a camaro from 2001-2001. I had it and I figured that the Ram could use a 6AL. It is pretty much obsolete nowadays.
