The main changes I noticed with the CAI was the sucking when floor boarded and better throttle response.
The noise reminds me of the old unsilenced air cleaners of the performance Mopars of the 60's.

14x3 you see low end loss, but more top end, the CAI is the opposite.

I found (seat of the pants) gains across the board with my K&N FIPK2, compared to the stock setup, with the greatest gain coming in the top end. Assuming it's at least somewhat accurate, K&N's dyno curves also fit my seat of the pants experience.

k&N will not make a system if they can't get added power over factory. but they do some of the most extensive dyno trials, to get the most out of them. i just wasn't set to pay for K&N this time for the truck, as i have for several of my previous DD's. that and i wanted money for other parts as well. the snorting is the sound of fun and fuel levels dropping rapidly. as for the water to top of motor its possible my heat shield is riddled with drops of dirty water spots. so, yes, water can get all over the inside of engine bay just on road driving. sock to arrive this next week. for its rain season and i will be doing more gravels for fishing this year with it.
