cleaning sludge out of lifter valley

same here i didnt have any sludge either. still dont. 113k.

mine wasnt bad just a little dust and what not from scrapping old gasket i didnt really have any build up and was super surprised with 240xxx miles

For those of you claiming you had no sludge, did you actually remove the spider retainer that sits under the intake manifold?

the plate that looks like it hold in the lifters???yeah i took that off just to get all the dirt i could thats where i found most of my crap at

I vacuumed the crap out with a shop vac.. I'm guessing those that didn't have any had already vacuumed it out via a blown plenum gasket..

same/same, right?
