Default Blowing fuses

Hello,
I have a 2000 dodgeram 2500 that keeps blowing fuse number 12 . I looked in my repair manual to see what a I.O.D. is but can't find what that might be , any help would be very much appreicated .

IOD is for the stuff that still needs power with the ignition off. Radio memory, cigarette lighter/power outlet, horn, etc. Take out your cigarette lighter, and see if the fuse still wants to blow.

I took out lighter and put in new fuse and it blew instantly .

Grab the 01 service manual from the FAQ section here, have a look at the wiring diagrams. See which circuits are fed from the IOD fuse, and start eliminating them one at a time, until you find the culprit. (probably need a good supply of fuses.....)

repeat the test, this time unplug the radio. not just the switched on/off, but also the constant hot (pink? maybe).

i don't think IOD powers either the regular cig lighter(switched), nor the aux lighter(always hot). i think they have their own big fuses.

whatever you do - do NOT install a larger fuse. its blowing due to a short(ground) in the wiring or the equipment.
