Default Tool needed to lower the spare tire

When I bought the truck it came with no spare jack or the extension. So now I can't get the spare tire down. Any ideas on how to raise and lower it?

Buy the jack/kit on eBay. Mine came with the wrong jack, assuming previous owner just threw one in at some point and forgot about it when he sold the truck. I got mine off of eBay from a wrecked Ram, works great.

u just wanting it off? or you still wanna use it? you can just cut the cable... or you can get the actual tool from the dealership. but im not sure if you could get anything else to work... its about the size of a regular 3/8s extension, dunno if it would turn it though.

That's exactly what I was thinking but Sears only has a 10mm for the biggest size, I would know I just drained the transfer case.

i had the same problem plus i cant fit a 35'' tire in the spare location, so i just removed my whole tire and which combo,

theres a cotter pin under the tire that connects the lowering rod to the winch.
pull the pin,
remove the rod though the hole above the bumper,
reconnect the rod with the pin so you can crank it down by hand.

after that theres only four bolt attaching the winch to the rear cross member, a ratcheting wrench made short work of that.

i think i used a 1/2 inch drive extension stuck into the spare's hex socket, and it worked.

5/8th's hex head from Snap-On is what I use, add an extension to a ratchet and its up and down in no time
