Default ABS Control Module

Why would my control module not be responding??????

Is there any way to test it with a multi meter to find out if its even getting power?

I have all the fuzes and relays in the correct spots under the hood but still i cant figure it out.

Thanks for the help

Rory

Nothing thats the problem. I had a new diagnostic tester hooked up to my obd2 port to try and find out the code as to why my break and abs light is on and the reader couldn't even get a signal from my abs control module. And i just want to know if anyone has had this problem or if there is a way to test the module for power

If your brake and ABS light or on, then more likely then not, it's your ABS thats located on top of your rear diff. Do a search for "brake light and ABS light on" and you'll see what I'm talking about. As to your original question, sorry I don't have an answer for you.

Try clearing it by disconnecting you battery for 30 seconds with the lights on. Then go back and see if the light still kicks on. If that doesn't work, get your Haynes manual and turn to page 9-24and read the "Diagnose and Repair" section. That ought to give you some more insight as to what's going on. Best of luck.

the abs control module is a black box near master cylinder. might have kelsey hayes stamped or printed on it. there's likely a fuse for it, either under the hood or in the end of the dash. should be an electrical connector to it. you could gently probe the pins for power.

download the 01 service manual in the faq section. it has very good wiring diagrams in the back.

His truck is a 97, so, chances are very good that the average code reader is NOT going to talk to the abs. Also, he probably only has RWAL..... so not much of a controller in any event. Not like the system works worth a damn.

Mine doesn't work worth a damn. I can lock the rear brakes easily. And none of the fault indicators are on....... I really don't see the point of it being there at all. Probably a marketing gimmick.
