the 2500 leaf's will not fit without swapping the spring mounts on the frame. its easy enough to do, but takes some work with a grinder. an aal works great, but remember, it may allow for more weight but doesnt mean it adds to the strenght of your truck. overloading will cause things to break. i have a 2" HD aal from skyjacker, and i love it, my truck barely squats with weight in it now. in the next year or less i will be getting dana 60 axles front and rear, and installing 2500 leaf springs in the rear. i already have 3/4 ton diesel springs up front to handle my plow, so im half way there. it is also possible to swap out your stock d44 front axle for a d60 front axle without swapping the rear axle, as long as the gear ratios are the same. good luck with it, hope you make a good decision and again dont overload your truck or you will be breaking things like your axle!
right, i understand what you are saying, but doing so will add stress to the rear components, never mind the frame. like i said, you install the aal, and you will be able to have more weight in the bed. doing so will get most people in the mind set that they can haul/tow more. keep in mind, if you haul stone and dirt often, why dont you just sell your 1/2 ton and buy a decent 3/4 ton 4x4 that can handle the weight. that poor 9.25 rear end will thank you for doing so. if your truck squats as much as youre saying it does, then you are already putting your truck over capacity. i have had over 2k lbs in the bed of my truck before the aal and it barely moved. so it sounds as though you are putting way too much in it for a 1/2 tonner to handle. our trucks can only handle about 6400 pounds fully loaded, and they weigh about 5500ish pounds unloaded so you can safely haul about 1k pounds. think about it, but seriously consider buying a 3/4 tonner.....
You can add 2500 springs without messing with mounts at all. All you have to do is keep your top one and use the 2500 lower springs. Basically make your own pack. It is basically an Add A Leaf kit. I have done it on my Dakota with Ram 2500 springs. Some 2500's have 2.5in some have 3in. You want to find 2.5 wide springs to match your 1500's.
