Please help, urgent, transmission issue!
Its actually on my isuzu trooper and the isuzu forums suck, so I am posting here, I pulled my trans a slight bit to see if my rear main seal is leaking, it wasnt, so I put my trans back in, now the engine is locked up, I tried starting it and the starter just clicks once, I tried turning the crankshaft bolt with a breaker bar, wont budge, what could be the problem???
on a side note I pulled the trans a little back off the torque converter and then just slid it back in, could this have cause a problem?

If it all looks good, properly seat the converter and put it all back together. If it's an external rear main seal on that engine, just swap it out while the transmission is out of the way so you don't create a fresh new regret for yourself.
Never messed with one of those trans so I can't speak from experience. But youre just gonna have to play with it until it seats all the way. More than likely what happened is it wasn't seated all the way back and when you tightened everything up you jammed it all together. Hopefully you didn't mess up the pump in the trans.
The best way is with a factory service manual to guide you. That's not much help, eh?
I've not fooled around with Isuzu's, but were it mine to do I'd get either the engine or the transmission out so I could easily get into the converter housing -- sometimes lifting the engine out is faster and easier, sometimes it's not. Always remember that the converter goes with the transmission and is never left to hang on the flex plate! Once I could get at it, I'd slide the converter out and take a look at the pump drive, and shine a flashlight into the front of the pump to see how the two fit together. From there it should take nothing more than patience and mindfulness to get it back together -- if nothing is damaged, that is.
It'd really suck to go through all of that, get it all back together, and then find leaking engine oil and transmission fluid. Whenever the engine and transmission come away from one another it's a good idea to change any seals, freeze plugs, etc. that are exposed. It might add a couple of hours to the job, but waiting until they fail means going back in -- six or eight hours of disassembly and reassembly to replace a cheap part is a drag.
Good luck with it, and let us know how it turns out!
