These trucks were not designed for MPGs. The most you'll get out of a programmer is 1, maybe 2, MPGs.

Try 8-10ish accompanied by a gas gauge that lies--"you're almost out of gas"... "oh no, just screwin with ya".... "OMG get some gas you're almost in the red"... "false alarm, you got half a tank"... I really need to replace my sending unit; using miles driven to determine tank fullness gets old.

I thought the gas gauge with a sense of humor was standard equipment?

Thats not to bad, mine says the tank is empty after about 40 miles out a full tank, and then the light comes on, have people tell me all the time that im low on gas.....its kinda fun to mess with them by saying well I hope it makes it to where were headed if not your pushing

I do the same sometimes... but the universe exacted its revenge a couple of months back: I reset my trip od before getting gas, then received an emergency phone call and had to leave abruptly... then forgot i reset my od... ran out of gas with the gauge near the quarter tank mark. At 2 am. On the highway. Slightly intoxicated. Bad combo.
