Default Connecting Rod Bolts. WTF, over?!?

long story short, they broke. I replaced all the bearings, installed pistons in the block, started torquing rod caps. Never got past about 45-50 ft-lbs and **snap**. the rod bolts were all just stretching out (they are originals). replacement time, obviously.

Now, where can I get these? Are the early 360 A block and LA style rod bolts the same? I saw ARP 144-6001 and 144-6401 says "Magnum" but under the "year" states only 1968-1991.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AR...GE%7cCID%7c360

NOWHERE can I actually find something that says it applicable to a 1992 and up Magnum 5.9. WTF, over?

Edit: The Haynes manual says "Connecting rod cap bolts, step torque 26-51-73 ft lbs", too high, huh?

I wanted to double check the torque specs, but all I can find is the LA SB which is 45 on the rod caps and 85 on the mains.
That is a big difference from Haynes'. 73 on the rod caps and 129 on the mains.

So which one is right? I know each bolt manufacturer may suggest a slightly different torque value, but holy hell this is supposed to be factory specs in this case.

I even checked the specifics for the ARP 144-6401 kit: only requires 50 ft-lbs.
Even the ARP Super-Duper-Ultra-Hardened-Mega-Racer bolt kit: 55 ft-lbs

Just getting so pissed now thinking I over-torqued my mains and rods because of some f**king Haynes manual misprint.....

I JUST LOOKED AT THAT. Now I'm really pissed off, I broke the F'ing rod bolts and spent the day shopping for new ones. Unnecessary cost and waste of time, I'M GOING TO BURN THIS STUPID GOSH DARNED HAYNES MANUAL.

I have the FSM on .pdf, just not a computer in the shop. Looks like I may do some printing. aarrgghh.

Last one I had done was 380 pages for ~$30. And it's a heck of a lot neater then I could do.

dont beat yourself up bud. i have an ARP main stud kit that calls for 90 ft/lbs. HOWEVER, due to clearance issues i have to use one bolt. i glanced at the torque spec in the haynes manual (129 ft/lbs) and proceeded to torque the bolt.

i then realized that was the diesel spec, OOOPS! im just glad it didnt break in the block or anything.
