Yes they are a direct replacement. You don't have to replace the springs but if you've got like 200k plus and constantly red line the truck it might not hurt cause they get tired after so long but they aren't required. When I get mine I'm not changing my springs.

I didn't change the springs either on mine... direct bolt-on and no problems at all. My truck was at around 143k miles when I did it.

It is actually recommended before that. It used to say it on HS's website, but with the revamp, the text disapeared. It was recommended that over 30k to replace the springs. All of you who don't replace your springs with 1.7's are doing it half *** imho (but that is just my opinion, and we will leave it at that). You all say you have no problems, but how about the damage on the inside that you can't see? Google "valve float". It has also been recommend a time or two to swap to hardened push rods to help with deflection because of the removal of the guide plates. How many do that? In the OP's case, it doesn't sound like he will have a problem, but you won't catch me tossing 1.7's on any time soon. To each their own.

You didn't search very hard, this has been covered a hundred times. As long as you buy HS non-adjustables, they bolt right in.

30k is nothing, that's just throwing money away. With the stock rev limiter you cannot float the valves. Throwing stronger springs on the stock 2 piece valves is a very bad idea. There is absolutly nothing wrong with not replacing the springs. I suppose you also like to change your O2 sensor(s) every 3 oil changes too

I beat on my engine every day, with boost and no rev limiter, it's doing just fine.

Looking at your sig you have a "PERFORMANCE BUILD 318 308-310HP" lol. If thats the case and true then you should know that you all ready have stiffer springs. You are not getting that much hp out of a 318 with stock springs with out boost and stock spring will not yeild that much hp N/A. Heck you can open the stockers with you hand there that weak no were near enough seat pressure for a higher lift cam. Next is pv clearance. What cam, pistons, heads, springs are you running?

ive never had any problems any where... my trucks been dishing it out since 150,xxx miles..and when my mechanic opened my engine up for the rockers and some basic wrk.. he was saprised on how clean my engine was.. i use seafoam ever 2-3 oil changes not in the oil but threw the gas and brake bootster line.. my old rockers still look new! a few had a little black on them. but no sludge everything was in 100% running oder!!!
