Thank you for the additional information. Boy, I'll look closer at it tomorrow. I am almost certain that there isn't that type of flanges, pads, etc. on the rear passenger side of the head but, who knows! I think it has a Dakota flywheel as the transmission is Dakota. If I changed the flywheel to a Ram and the sensor mounts to the bell housing, I would need cut a hole in the Dakota bell housing and try to accurately line up the sensor with the proper location for the Ram flywheel. I guess more will be told tomorrow when I look even more closely at the flanges, etc. on the back of the passenger head/block.

Thanks again,

Maybe I was not clear but the pads are on the block, not the head. The pads are facing upwards so parallel with the deck of the block. The block holds the sensor in the proper location so you do not have to accurately cut the bell housing, just clear the sensor.

I will guarantee it is there as the magnum block did not change. Besides I have had 2 '94 Magnums, a 318, and a 360. Both sensors were in the same place.

Does anybody know where the Dakota has the CPS?

You must be using an AX15 and a 3.9 Dakota bellhousing?

91 would be LA, that's why it doesn't have the slot for the sensor. And since the V8 5 speed didn't come around until 94, that's also an AX15, so be careful with that behind a V8. Also the auto and manual crank sensors are different, so make sure you get the right one.

What is LA?
I think this is the flange or posts you are talking about but there is no hole in the bell housing.
I'm also thinking that we will have trouble with the flywheel being from a V6 and this is a V8 even if we cut a hole in the bell housing.

Not sure what the best step would be.

The LA is the generation of motors before the Magnum series. There are a lot of similarities but some definite differences. The Magnums are all multi port fuel injected and use the crank sensor that the older LA does not.

Those would be what I am talking about. Use a 1/4 allen to remove the bolts.

Yes there will be issues after you cut the hole out of bell housing. The V6 and V8 flywheels have a different hole pattern. Besides the old LA flywheel in there will not have any holes. You will need to get a V8 flywheel from a Magnum 318, nothing else, 360 will NOT work. I have no idea if your clutch will bolt to the different flywheel.

We're looking for a 318 Magnum flywheel to check out the match with the bolt holes. We'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the information it has helped sort out the troubles.
