Starts at 250 RPMs then Dies
I have a brand new engine in my truck with barely 450 miles on it: 1996 Ram 1500 318. The other day I started it up (fairly warmed up), it went up to 250 RPMs and stayed there so I shut it off after a few seconds. I started it back up and it ran fine the next couple times I started it up.
The next day, I started it (fully warmed up), and it did the same thing about 10 times in a row. It wouldn't start normally and would only go up to 250 rpms, then shut off. When it made it to the shop on a tow truck, it started fine and has been fine since then. Any ideas? My mechanic was thinking fuel pump, but hasn't found anything wrong with it yet.
