So, after making the adjustment to the ('99 Ram 1500, 2wd, 5.9, 46RE) tranny I got it wrong at first. Drove it around a while then learned here that I used the specs for the wrong tranny. (backed the front one off 2 & 7/8 & the other one 1 & 7/8 when it shoul've been the other way around) I have since gone back & done it correctly. However, there's a couple problems. When it gets up to 35-40 MPH it wants to shift from 3rd-4th back & forth. Especially, if I have the OD on. When it gets to that point the whole truck just shakes & my front end just bounces up & down doesn't clear up 'til I get to above 50 or 55 MPH. Do I have the back one too loose? or the front one too tight?
Also, since the adjustment every time when moving forward at idle it just seems to shutter or when backing up real slow. If you do it for too long you'll get motion sickness it really shakes the whole truck. It feels as though something is out of balance. Can the TC be out of balance? & why does it smooth out once you pick up speed?
Further, I have read here that the front band is for 1st & 2nd gear & the other one is for 3rd & 4th. I've read elsewhere that the front one is the 'kick-down' & the other is not. So, which is it?
