Default trans temp readings

ok i got the trans temp gauge installed and it is reading 160 deg. is this good or bad?

the gauge is from glowshift and i installed it on the test port on the passenger side of the tranny close to the dipstick. i have a deep pan to install but i have 8000 miles left on the warranty and i dont wont to void the warranty incase something does go wrong. i have a cooler that i did put on as they guys said that wont void the warranty.

the weather around GA has been in the 90's so i fiqure the temp is about right. with the 180deg thermstat i installed the engine is running cooler.

That's actually pretty good, but, I don't think the test port is the best place to put the sensor. I don't think there is fluid pressure there all the time.....

There are some rather nice adapters for plumbing the sensor into the output line to the cooler though. That would probably be better.

i have the deep pan from summit that has the cooling tubes in it and the temp port in the pan as well. i will change that pan out when the warranty expires.

also on the cooler.............i run the "hot line" to the cooler FIRST then to the radiator and the back to the transmission.

the line that runs to the bottom of the radiator (had the check valve in it) is the "hot" line or the line coming FROM the transmission. RIGHT?
