Question building a 5.9 magnum, need help deciding on stuff

I have a 99 ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.2, but i'm going to be dropping in a 5.9 that i'm going to to rebuild/beef up. as of right now I know for sure i'm going to put in edelbrock performer heads that are aluminum and have bigger intake and exhaust ports. I'm most likely going to get a stroker kit to increasethe stroke from 3.58" to 4", with the bore being 4.030"(.030" over). I'm trying to decide what would be a good cam to get, I needs something that will be like 700-4800 rpms, as i need torque for mudding. any suggestions? and im also wondering where to get a custom tune made, somewhere good with magnums, as i figure i will probably needs to have a custom tune. if anybody has suggestions on where to get good parts for my truck, please let me know, thanks!

p.s.I rebuilt my tranny about a year ago, to stock specs, so i know it may last a year or two, and than i will rebuild it to match the engine.

The only thing I could suggest to you is to get your Tune from Hemifever...SCT all the way. One of our members (Matty) might be able to give you so great suggestions since he's building a 408 stroker

adobe is a good fella to advise on cams.. Aimforsquirrels another.. for the range you're looking at, a sausage cam would be your huckleberry.. nice low end torque..

check out my 408 stroker build thread, just do a search, its somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 pages long, so grab some popcorn

mines a custom ground comp cam, you can check out the specs in the build thread.

dont bother with aluminum heads. a ported set of R/T's or iron rams will do you just as well. for a mud truck id have to go with p/p'd 1.92s.

you can check out the entire build specs in my garage.

let me know if you have any specific questions, im sure myself as well as others can give you some insight.

you'll need a wideband A/F gauge so Sean (HEMIFEVER) can tune it.

dont bet on your rebuilt trans lasting any lengthy amount of time. mine was rebuilt a short time ago as well, and i can only imagine what that beast will do to it

"wideband A/F gauge " , mind enlightening me on this? no clue what it is where it plugs in, how to set up or read???

I do understand its air fuel gage. very important balance.

thanks in advance
