Default 4bt swap

ive been researching the cummins 4bt swap, what all would i need to have to do the swap, wondering if i could maybe just run it off an auto trans. if not whats the best trans for it?

The first gen Cummins uses has the A727 and A518 autos behind it. Therefore if you can snag an adapter plate, flexplate, and starter from one of those you will be able to use your 46RE.

You will need a computer from a 97 cummins truck to run the transmission.

You said you are researching. Try asking specific questions here and figure the rest out yourself. I have done a lot of research on the same and similar subjects so I know the info is out there. This swap is common enough.

Go to 4btswaps.com, do a search, and start reading.

Remember that 4bts are rather uncommon and very expensive. Often the same price or more expensive than the 6bt.

not really expensive, you can find one in just about every older bread truck
