Default Brakelight is shning brightly on my Dash. What gives?

Brake Light on
ABS light NOT on.

97 Ram 1500 sport. Was going down a really bumpy road today and my brake light came on in the dash. I had this happen a few weeks ago, and pushed down the parking break and released it and the problem went away. I tried that today and it didn't fix the issue.

Where are all of the sensors that would trip the dashboard brake light, and what are other potential causes, so I can start looking for issues.

Biggest cause of that light is usually a blown brake line, do the brakes work good?

they seem to be working correctly. i guess i'll check the lines and the fluid levels. i thought the ABS light would also come on with a drop in fluid level?

A loss of pressure from a busted line will cause the ABS light to come on. Proportioning vale senses a drop in pressure and illuminates the ABS light. Not a drop in fluid as there is no sensor in the master to sense low fluid. Check the brake pedal switch. ABS, cruz control, trans to name a few all tie in to the brake pedal switch.
