Default quick rearend question

I have a 2001 1500 4x4. I came across a rearend out of a '98 that has a lsd. Will a 98 fit without any problems or are there differences between them? I'm pretty sure there all the same. They both have the 355 gearing.

Should bolt right up. Might be a difference in connectors on the rear wheel speed sensor though, and possibly E-brake cables...... aside from that, its the same axle.

double check the pinion yoke for round flange vs u-bolts. worst case swap the yoke.

this should answer any question you might have about a rear end.

Very nice, do you know where I can pick one of those up? I think it would look really good in my truck.

After some research, ive come to the conclusion that this rear would get me into alot of trouble with the wife , and the factory lsd's dont seem to hold up well. So, i think im just goin to lock the one one in the truck.

The factory lsd's aren't as bad as everybody makes them out to be. They aren't great and they can have problems. I just had mine rebuilt when I got my gears installed and it worked great this weekend. Climbing some hills with one back tire off the ground and both tires were pulling. I was truly amazed.
