Default Help!!!

First, let me introduce myself. My name is chance, i am 16 and own a 1999 dodge ram 1500, with 3 inches of suspension lift, 35 nitto mud grapplers, a chrome brush guard, cherrybombs and duals, a BOSS flip out touch screen, and 2 10 visonic subs with a 2000 watt amp. I have a problem, however. When driving, my truck makes an odd clicking sound, like hitting a tin can with another metal object. it seems to be coming from the rear. Could it be the U-Joints? i would like to know if anyone knows what my problem could be, and what i can do to fix it. Much appreciated.

You'll want to start by narrowing down what the situation is when the sound happens. Does it do it under load or acceleration only? Only during braking? All of the time?

I'd start by getting under the truck and doing a visual inspection of the driveline components. Chock the tires real good though, you don't want your truck running you over.

Grab the driveshaft near the transfer case and use all your weight to shake it up and down, left and right. Does it move? Do the same towards the rear end. Put the truck in neutral and do it over again (Tire chocks REQUIRED), see how much play there is in the rear end by twisting the driveshaft back and forth. Keep a close eye on the u-joints as you do these checks.

Also, check your rear diff fluid.

Hope this gets you on the right track!
