Default Fuel Economy Upgrade

I am the proud owner of a 2000 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L gasoline engine.

In light of the now soaring gas prices, can anyone recommend upgrades to increase fuel effeciency first, and performance second?

I'm thinking flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake and a performance chip for the ECU, I just don't know which one(s) are good etc.....

Thanks!

A 14x3 air cleaner, a free flowing exhaust, and an sct tuner is about as good as you're going to get. I assume you've fixed the plenum and have a recent tune up?

I've got a 7" lift on my truck with 35's and 4.88's. I just fixed my plenum, did a tune up, 50mm tb, shorty headers with straight pipes, sct on the 87 tune, running about 60 on a trip I just took I got 15.8 mpg's. I've got a 5.9 as well.
