Default ac problem

I got one problem solved by this forum, I hope I can make it two now;

My 2000 Ram 5.2 4x2 is blowing all the air from the ac/heat through the floor vents no matter what I put it on. It blows a VERY little from the front vents and a little from the defrost vents. I checked the check valves like everyone suggest to and they seem fine. What else can I check or do. Does the PCV valve have anything to do with this?

PCV valve is irrelevant to your problem. Since the system defaults to the defroster vents, I am going to guess that the problem is in the control head, for the vent controls. That thing isn't user serviceable, and has to be replaced as a unit. Grab one from the junkyard.

Even if I see that when you switch it to different positions it is closing and opening the actuators. Also when you turn the **** I can hear air moving in the line, if that is the right way of wording it.

Wonder if you have some door problems inside the heater box..... if you can see the vacuum actuators doing their trick when you change settings, but where the air is coming out doesn't change...... sounds like it's time to drop the dash, pull the box, and have a look...... Such fun.....

Not really difficult, per se..... Just time consuming.... Plan on at least a full day of it, if not two.... and that's only if you don't have to order any parts.... (kinda difficult to drive with the dash out......)

Well problem solved....after taking the dash out and doing some inspecting of the HVAC box, I found the clip that the plastic clip that attaches to the vertical door(i think its the blend door) and accuator was totally disconnected. Reconnected and everything works great. Thanks for the help "HeyYou". I have had my truck for a week now and this forum has saved me HUNDREDS of dollars in minor fixes. Thanks everyone
