Default Rear Driveshaft U Joint

Can anyone tell me if it is difficult to replace the u joint on the rear of the driveshaft? Am i even able to replace it or is a special tool needed? Is the part itself expensive? I know someone out there has had to have had one go out on them. Mine is shot yet but it makes a noticeable clunk when i shift into reverse and it really bothers me. Its a 97 Ram 1500 360ci

Default RE: Rear Driveshaft U Joint

I just had mine done. Like 10 bucks from autozone and about 20 bucks to have the guys at the shop press them in if you just bring them the shaft. Always replace them in pairs though as they both could use replacement. I did hear guys using a c-clamp and a socket to press them out. There is a tool out there to press them out but I dont own it. Depending on your automotive skills you can try it yourself or unbolt the driveshaft and bring it in. Up to u

Also if you choose to do it yourself get the ones with grease fittings so you can lube them every time you change your oil.

I think someone had a link a few posts ago to a nice article about this topic. Maybe someone will be nice and link it here again,
