Very bad door damage
hey, my names jesse and i just got a dodge ram 1500 from 2001, its only my second vehicle and i already love it, this is my first of hopefully many questions about it. im here today because i was out with my friends riding four wheelers around the yard (i have 33+ acres) and my friend come blowing down the hill on the four wheeler i told him NOT to ride because it has no brakes, the throttle stuck and he slammed into the side of my truck at about 40 mph. i heard a loud smash and turned to see him on the ground next to my truck, when i asked him if he was ok he said "yea so, the throttle stuck" and then he stood up and walked away. it was more or less a miracle he was ok after a hit like that and i was really happy... until i looked at my truck. both doors have dings in the that are about 5ft x 5ft and the rear door has a rip thru the metal toward the bottom, the rear door is also covered in scratches. i checked and you cant even tell its damaged from the inside, the window rolls up and down fine, and the speaker still works to. i was wondering if anybody knows what it will cost to get this fixed and if there is anything i could do. i feel like if i get the inside door panel off i could push the dented parts back to their original position, but i dont know how to do that. any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

It can be fixed but will it be worth repairing them? From the sounds of it... you would be better off getting another door(s) and taking it to a body shop to paint and match them to the rest of the truck. Your "friend" should cover the cost, especially after you told him not too. Can you post some pictures?
Body work can be a pain in the rear to do it right. I worked on mine a few months ago and it was about 15 years since I done any body work. I didn't have some of the tools I needed witch made it even harder. Even still, the panels turned out real good and I found out I still suck at painting.
If you have full coverage you could try filing a claim with the insurance company.

here it is, i just uploaded it to an album on this website
OOHH.... that's bad!
That will definitely be a pain to work on. Go to some junk yards and see if you can get lucky and find some in the same color. You would be FOREVER trying to smooth out, line everything up and match the paint.
Then (after you find some good replacements) you'll only have to worry about the fun part of lining up the new doors you get.

+1. I'd have a strong talk with him. If he won't cover the cost of his mistake on your property, then I'd suggest strongly reflecting on your friendship with him. His mistake, his accident, you shouldn't have to pay for it.
hes 18, he definitely does not have the money for, well, anything really. and it wasnt all his fault, the throttle stuck on full and he stayed on the vehicle and tried to steer it away from the truck at his risk instead of jumping off and letting it hit my truck head-on. in my mind, hes a hero. thanks for the advice, ill try and find some new doors. is it any kind of illegal to drive the truck like that? because to be honest i think it looks rugged lol
