auto tranny shifting on wide open throttle
So me and another df member are having a piecefull disagreement ha. I could swear that with 265 tires and 355 gears wide open throttle i could pull about 75 in second then it would shift to third around that speed and max out around 50 in first. He is telling me on wide open throttle the truck shifts into 4th gear at 75 or 80. Every time iv been over 100 i swear im still in 3rd gear. This guy is also telling under wot you can barly feel the shift from 1st to 2nd. He says only 46re with mayjor fabrication can go 78-80 in 3rd. I say that under wide open throttle, a stock ram auto with 355 gears will easily pull 3rd gear at 78-80. Please lemme know if im Missing something but thats the way i always thought.

At part throttle, you will hit fourth around 80 or so..... (a fair bit of weight on the pedal though....) at WOT, I am not even sure it WILL shift into fourth....... I know GM gimped their four speed autos such that at 3/4 throttle, they would kick out of fourth, and stay out...... (of course, there was a fix for that too. )

Trust me.. you were in fourth. I bet your truck is loud enough that you dont feel the shifts. I know because of the way my shift kit shifts way strong. I even felt it stock. your 4th will go out at about 110 like you said with medium mods (no forced induction, possible rev limiter/govorner, or internal performance parts) Its hard to tell, you haqve to really listen and pay attention to the shifts and you should be able to tell with exhaust tone in some situations. If theres a truck that dosent use its 4th gear and hits 110, i got screwed lol. If you have no rpm tach, install one and observe rpms, should raise and lower 3 times before going up until maxing out the engines curretn rpm output or the speed the transmission gear can carry.

Maybe your not pressing the pedal hard enough? I just did a 180 mile trip with am average speed of about 80mph and if I needed to pass someone my tranny would drop a gear and take me up over 90 then it would shift after I let off the throttle. In my truck you have to press the pedal pretty hard to make it kick down a great at 80 but it will. There is a catch it feels like your wot but your really not. Press harder and it down shifts
