Angry TPS & 1740 & CC question

Hey guys!
Like everyone else, I am at my wits end with this damn truck! I've had it for 2 months and have done nothing but put lots of $$ into it and chase codes, especially the 1740. I am a mechanic of 15 years, but never got into transmission internals. I have had it to 5 different trans shops and all they want to do is guess and throw parts at it.
Here is a run down on some important info...
Fluid is cherry red, full, and as clean as can be with nothing unusual about it. Same goes for the filter and magnet inside. I replaced the OD snap ring, which breaks all the time, and I replaced EVERY sensor / solonoid inside the transmission, including the tcc / od. The transmission shifts perfect and shows zero signs of anything wrong, other then the check engine light. I postponed a camping trip for a month now trying to get peace of mind knowing the transmission wont blow up, since I am towing a 30' travel trailer 1500 miles before dropping it, and a total of about 4000 miles round trip.
Ayway, I am wondering if my TPS can be bad? I see that it is a possible cause for the 1740 code. Also, my cruise control comes ON by itself from time to time. Could there be an electrical issue or can the cruise problem and 1740 be related somehow?
Any suggestions are great and thank you in advance!

P1740 TCC or O/D Solenoid Perf

If you have replaced the solenoid already, and you used a good quality part. (not some no name reman piece of crap....) then you are probably looking at a failed torque converter.

Can you feel the TCC lock? Do you get a good RPM drop when it does so? (at least 200 RPM.)

I doubt the code, and your cruise issues are related.... but, it does indeed sound like you may have some wiring issues going on there. Or, maybe just a bad switch.

Hi and thanks alot for taking the time to reply. I replaced them with original Mopar sensors and solonoids from my local Dodge Dealer.
The trans seems to be shifting fine, and the converter feels to be looking as it should.
I have no problem rebuilding the trans and putting in a new converter, I am just not convinsed that it needs it. But I guess it's the only way to make sure everything inside is in good shape.

Well, your parts should be good then....... Reset the codes (again...) and see if they come back. If they do...... might be time for a new t/c at least......

I had the same code 1740 and the transmission was shifting fine but the torque converter want locking. I had to do a full rebuild. If a torque converter goes bad it can release crap into the tranny.

IIRC, there is a TSP about a transmission wire harness, for a sensor, that corrects a problem where the wire chafes over time and grounds the sensor thus produces TC issues. Perhaps there's a wire on a sensor that has faulty sheathing and is grounding out?

The trans is out and completely apart. No obvious signs of anything causing the code. It's being completely rebuilt, as is the OD unit and a new converter. After it is back in and before the key goes into the ignition, I will put an Iron Maiden decal over the check engine and trans temp light. Then I'll hook up my 30' camper and make the 1400 mile each way drive with 2 quads in the bed and a loaded cab. I dont want to know if they are on and frankly, I wont care. I spent 4900 on the truck and have 4100 into it. I deserve a medal......

Theres so many people chasing this problem and I believe there should be a class action lawsuit against Chrysler.
