Thanks. Makes sense.

It sounds like you are in the same boat that I am in. I had the same problem, my truck was having minor problems shifting up and down. It finally got to the point where I decided to get it looked at. I took it to a "credible" shop were they replaced the sensors. When they drained it they did actually take off the pan. After removing the pan they found some metal shavings, but assured me that the sensors should be a temp bandaid (I'm a broke college kid). Immediately afterwards my truck will no longer shift, I figured this out during my 45 minute drive home.

My next step is taking it to a shop to be repaired, but not just any shop. I wouldn't suggest going to any big chains, even though we both screwed that up. After talking with friends and family I found a local guy that has done great work for people that I know. Not only did he do a good job but his quotes are $600 cheaper than anywhere else.

So my advice would be to pay up and get it fixed right and take it to a local shop that has good reviews, especially from friends. No more jiffy lube or aamco for me.

I just had my transmission serviced at the dealer yesterday. Just letting everyone know it was $160 total and well worth it. Unfortunatley they said I need a new Trans due to mister snap ring piece in the pan but..I will gladly pay the little extra to know they do the service correctly when it comes to these trannys.....Transmission flushes should be outlawed!!!!

This is my guess. You don't have the correct fluid in there.

The last ditch before a rebuild would be to find a very reputable shop, explain what happened, ask them to drain it completely, adjust the bands, and refill with ATF+4.

if that don't fix it, rebuild.

It drove flawlessly for a week after jiffy lube. It was only after the battery died from sitting for two weeks that it started acting up.

A dead battery will not cause a shifting issue. wrong fluid can eat up you clutch packs in about a week.
