Awesome 99 dodge! I LOVE THE RED AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD! but since zman and heyyou frown upon painting it because of heat dissipation I listened to them cleaned it and polished it and was done. If you look at my last pics i put in cable ties. Ive taken the boots off a bunch already doesnt seem to get that hot, but i will keep an eye on it per your suggestion. I really do like h ow we are copying style
red msds red wire looms etc hehe
Oh and BTW more to be added soon:
Rock Solid Ram Steering fix
Fuel Pump being changed

when your lining the bed make sure you prep it really good or it will start to peel.
sand it down completely
wash it with water
wipe it down with mineral spirits or good solvent
then tape off everything
also you may want to do a few layers, but let the paint dry completely between each layer
also i bought a media blasting gun from tractor supply (you can see it in the 1st pic) for $20 and a extra pint of black paint, so i could dilute the bed lining and spray it on.
heres a before and after pics

i used the same technique on my rockers, and a couple of friends vehicles!

99dodge, man you dont even know how much i appreciate the tips. Thats what its all about. I mean im an engineer so I can logically figure stuff out, especially with my 3000 page service manual and DF. But its the tips from people who have done it that save massive time and headache.
What I was planning on doing was using a corded drill with a steel bit like this:

So your saying i need to get ALL the paint completely off? I mean it says on the instructions to sand it down so its rough and rinse it with water and let it dry then apply. You think i should wire brush the whole bed till its completely steel? I did a few bondo patches already in the bed where I sanded all the way to steel guess i may have to re-do them after i sand the whole thing.

i dont think you should go all the way down to bare steel cause the liner needs something to grab on to, just sand all the shinny spots, the rougher the better.
if you were to go down to bare steel you might want to use some rattle can primer first.
also i beat all the dent in my wheel wells down and remove all the tie down brackets and tailgate hardware(stopper, rubber bushings etc..).
