Default 96 wont keep running

hey guys, im having some issues with my truck as of yesterday, hopefully you guys can help me out. i was driving down the road ( about 25mph) and i heard a really light "pop". then all the power to my truck was gone. i pushed on the gas pedal and it wouldnt do anything. the truck was still running but it wouldnt rev up or get any power when i pushed on the pedal. i pulled over and it died. i can get it to start but it runs horribly shaky and then dies after a few seconds. any ideas what might be going on.

Unhappy

the check engine light did come on when this happened. i towed it down to auto zone and they ran a check on the codes, and said it was misfiring. i put in all new spark plugs to fix the misfiring problem and it was still a no go!

Could be the Camshaft Position Sensor under the dist. cap. Either that or the Crankshaft Postion Sensor on the block.
Both can cause major problems.

One is kinda of a pain, the other is a serious pain.... mainly due to where they are. Also, don't bother with the parts store sensors. Get 'em from the dealer. You pay more, but, they WORK, whereas, the ones from the parts store may, or may not.....

alright, which one do you think it might be? anything make you lean towards one or the other? I will try replacing both of them, but i would rather do one at a time and see if i can get it running again, and i gotta start somewhere...

If you get spark when it won't start, replace the cam sensor first. (in the distributor) If you don't, go for the crank sensor.
