Default Yoke upgrade?

Ok so i had i bolt snap off on the yoke on the drive shaft going into the front differential. So i took the universal joint out and took the yoke out. my plan was to use an easy out to get the broken bolt out, but that didn't work. So i thought "ill just drill the holes out and tap the holes put new bolts in it and be good to go. so i was working on doing that but came across where a guy took the stock straps off, drilled out the threads and put a u-bolt through it. (picture below) and thats what i am going to do. But the u bolt does not look like just your everyday u-bolt. So my question is, is this a good idea? and where could i buy the u-bolt? Thank you in advance!

Parts stores should have the U-bolts. Not sure if it is a good idea or not..... replacing the entire yoke may not be a bad plan. Get one from a junkyard for just a few bucks.

You can do it, the u-bolt kits are like $5 at Napa, but when you drill out the strap style yokes for it, it places the u-bolt a little farther in on the joint cap. I would replace the whole yoke myself, but if you're careful on tightening up the u-bolt, I know friends who still run them like that.
