I wouldn't do that. That will really mess up the Pre-cat O2 sensor readings. Reading only 4 of the 8 cylinders would make your pcm think the truck is running crazy lean, so it'll attempt to enrich the mixture to compensate. Expect mileage to plummet as a result. Guys run X pipes and mount the O2 sensor in the middle.

I ran true duals a few weeks ago and put the pre cat O2 in one pipe and the after cat O2 in the other. No cat, no non foulers, no check engine light, no problems. The last tank I averaged just under 15 mpg with city and highway driving.

you really should run an x pipe, or at least an h pipe, with a true dual system. Exhaust pulses need to be balanced, and each pulse helps with scavenging on both banks of the engine. If the pipes are never connected, the pulses don't work together as they are designed to do, and you have a less efficient exhaust, which defeats the purpose of running true duals.

But then it's not a true dual exhaust lol. I know it's better to do an x or h pipe I just like the sound of true duals better. I've got an X pipe on my Monte and had an H pipe on the Mustang. With the Dodge I wasn't going for all out performance- mostly just a sound I like and it's still a major improvement over the stocker.

An H or X pipe fools the exhaust into thinking it has longer collectors, which aid quite a bit in exhaust scavenging. You will actually get better low end power with one, than without.
