Default Noob Question

Have a 01 1500 5.2/5 speed with 6" lift and 35's. Thinking about getting some 4.56 gears, what type of "real" benifit can I expect?

Better low end grunt.

Better fuel economy.

Less wear on the trans.

Longer drivetrain longevity. Thinks like u-joints and such will love you for it.

It really is a good plan. There isn't a downside.

Sounds good. Guess I'll do it. Does $1290 purchased/installed sound reasonable?

front and rear, done properly- yup.. that is a good deal.. or a decent deal.. around here, it cost between $300 and $400 an axle for labor, and the R&P's are around $300ea as well..

total: $1200~$1400 for the entire job.. not too bad.. figure in another $50 or so in gear oil @ +1k miles too..
