Default looking at replacing ac compressor, any pointers??

i have had my compressor replaced before and didnt change anything but the compresssor and had no problems with it for 150k miles on my 2wd 98 ram 5.9. i did this relatively soon after it went out, now im looking at doing my 4wd 98 ram 1500 5.9l that had locked up last year and was curious if any one had bad results not going the full package route of replacing the recommended components or just the compressor. I'm leaning towards doing the filter/drier as well just to be safe and was also looking for input on sources /name brands to get or stay away from. Any one have a inexpensive source for these products i would sure appreciate it.

no personal experience working on AC, but check rockauto.com for low prices.

Replace the drier/accumulator as well. Check the amount of oil in the old compressor and compare out to what the new compressor states is in it. If the new unit has more oil than the old one had in it, find put how much the system should have total, and subtract the compressor oil from that.

You'll ned to pull vacuum on the system for at least 30min to get the moisture out, of you don't, you'll don your new drier in short order.

Plenty of DIY on google and youtube, study up before you dig in.
